Nick Dupont, polymath author

Lawyer, administrator, author of CATSEYE. After rejecting a full-time career in the law, Nick became a church administrator and author. He lives in Washington, once travelled to experience the Iditarod, has collaborated with a composer on a new musical and is writing his next novel.

ON BEING AN ENTERTAINER: "I am not a professional entertainer, but I’m an enthusiastic amateur. I’m experienced with acting, singing, and other stage-type activities."
ON BEING A POLYMATH: " I can’t fix a car, but you definitely want me on your team in Trivial Pursuit."
ON CONTRIBUTING TO THE LITERARY CANON:  "I like genre fiction, so that’s what I wrote and what I intend to continue writing. Horror is my baby, but I could be tempted to write sci-fi/fantasy, if I had what I felt was a strong enough premise."
ON HIS POLITICAL 'Q':  "If I have a pet cause, I’d say it’s animal welfare (no pun intended - okay, maybe a little intended)."
ON THE RECORD: "I can genuinely say that I’m one of those people who have no fear of public speaking. I wouldn’t be able to give a TED talk on fluid dynamics, but interviews, panels, speeches, and the like aren’t an issue. As long as we’re on the topic, I’m pretty deep in what’s been deemed “nerd culture.” I play Dungeons & Dragons, I’ve dressed as obscure comic book villains for parties, and I’m a passionate Trekkie. When Orlando Bloom shouts “Crebain from Dunland!” in the Fellowship of the Ring movie, I know exactly what he means and why it matters. You want to put me in a context I’m comfortable with, that’s it."

Author of CATSEYE...

Nick's novel, CATSEYE, has been accepted by GM Solutions for a reading at its Australian script workshop, this autumn. CCM is submitting summaries of his ms. to film and mini-series industry leaders and script writers. The intimate project features a strong female leading role for a brilliant actress who can focus upon her ability to handle a range of changing mental states while wrestling with her character's denial of the 'supernatural' and hallucinations, loneliness and horror - all faced while protecting her young boy.
